Intermission's August 2020 Retreat will again make its home at the gorgeous Wilburton Inn, a historic inn, restaurant, and estate located in Manchester Village, Vermont. Crowning a thirty-acre hillside, the Wilburton Inn features deluxe rooms and villas with stunning mountain views, a seasonal farm-to-table restaurant, and a fascinating collection of global contemporary art. Our Retreats occupy the Battenkill Valley Mansion, an enormous private house that satisfies all of Intermission's needs and desires. Retreat participants have access to all Wilburton Inn facilities (grounds, pool, fitness area, common spaces) in addition to our own mansion which houses a state-of-the-art kitchen, a bright and airy yoga studio, cozy common rooms, and plenty of space to practice, rehearse, compose, and beyond. Browse images of the Wilburton Inn and our Vermont Retreats here, visit their website, or watch a short video about our home for the week of August 24-31, 2020!

Intermission's first European Retreat (September 4-11, 2019) was held in the spectacularly beautiful and historic Château de Queille. Sheltered by wooded foothills but looking out to the Pyrenees a few miles to the south, the Château lies on a rock cliff which falls sheer to the River Touyre below. The surrounding area is famous for its beauty, architecture, and Cathar history. All of the Cathar castles (Montségur, Rocquesfixade, Peyrepeteuse, Puilaurens, Quillan...) are located within an hour's drive. Plenty of hiking is available nearby, there is lake sailing 10 minutes away, and the coast is but an hour's drive.

On the ground floor of the main house there is a large kitchen/dining room with an enormous open fireplace, a small library, and an elegant saloon; other features of the Château include a large, bright music room with a Steinway grand piano, a dramatic pool sitting on the cliff's edge, stunning gardens, walking paths, a swimmable river, and an 11th century chapel.
