What: Intermission is delighted to offer three virtual mini-Retreats during the summer of 2020, right from the comfort of your own home! Join us for a rejuvenating three and a half days where musicians can gather virtually to move mindfully, hone our crafts, and share creative ideas. Think virtual artist colony meets yoga retreat!

When: August 23-26, US timings (Fundamentals)

           August 27-30, US timings (Intermediate/Advanced)

           September 2-5, UK timings (All Levels)

Where: Zoom-land

Who: Around 30 open-minded, generously-spirited people who love music, movement, and the ongoing exploration of the relationship between the two. Our August Virtual Retreats will be led by Melissa and Elena with classes by certified yoga instructors Tiffany June and Giulia Pline, and our September Virtual Retreat will be led by certified yoga instructors Chloe Faulkner and Katy Bateman.

​Why: Simply put, you are worth it! Three and a half days of mindful movement taught by top-notch instructors, cooking classes, and community is an investment in yourself, yes — but the returns are exponential and extend well beyond our time together. Past Retreat participants have noted that by "taking an Intermission" each year, they've kickstarted healthy daily routines, improved their playing through increased bodily awareness, and managed performance anxiety through breath-work and by cultivating supportive relationships with other open-hearted musicians. Whatever your intentions or goals, making time and space to refill your tank will only enhance your musical experiences. 

Pricing: The all-inclusive fee for each of our 2020 Virtual Retreats ($100 for each of the US-timed Retreats, £80 for the UK-timed Retreat) includes two movement classes per day, group activities like cook-alongs and yoga prop-making, and unlimited access to a community of incredible, kind, compassionate fellow musicians. All funds will be directed towards our yoga instructors and chefs, with any extra money allocated towards a future in-person Retreat scholarship fund. Payment plans are absolutely an option – please contact us to discuss further. Opening night:

8-10 p.m.: welcome, cozy PJs flow, share time


Day 1:

9-10:15 a.m.: movement class

5:30-6:45 p.m.: movement class

7 p.m. onwards: share time


Day 2:

9-10:15 a.m.: movement class

5:30-6:45 a.m.: movement class

7 p.m. onwards: share time

Day 3:

9-10:15 a.m.: movement class

12:30-3 p.m.: group cook-along with Retreat chefs

5:30-6:45 p.m.: movement class

7 p.m. onwards: closing, share time/happy hour

Other:​ The Virtual Retreat Zoom room will be kept open for the duration of each Retreat, so feel free to drop in any time to connect with your Retreat family. If there are any topics or activities you'd like to propose – current events, sing-alongs, trying out new rep, etc. – for any of our share times, we are all ears.
